Bhubaneswar: It seems Khordha is gradually losing grip on COVID-19 crisis management as the number of positive cases continue to rise in the district.

Despite all COVID-19 restrictions, Khordha has now emerged as the new virus hotspot in the State with the highest 21,415 cases so far.

The virus, so far, has claimed 75 lives in the district, the second highest after Ganjam.

With COVID-19 cases going through the roof, a key meeting of the district administration headed by Collector Sanat Kumar Mohanty is underway (by the time this report was published) to chalk out measures to shun the further spread of the disease.

The meeting, which is being held at the circuit house, is attended by Bhubaneswar, Balipatana and Balianta BDOs, sources said.

Odisha today reported 3,810 new COVID-19 cases of which Khordha alone reported 797 cases in the last 24 hours. While 13,669 patients recuperated from the virus, 7,661 patients are still active in the district.
