Bhubaneswar: Covid-19 cases continue to show a declining trend in Odisha with the State registering 2019 new infections in the last 24 hours, 177 lesser than the figures registered on Saturday & lowest in over a month and half.

The total infections in the State have now climbed to 268364 today. Active cases have risen to 22949 while 244227 are recoveries so far, data released by the State I& PR Department said.

However, deaths due to Covid-19 infection remained static with at least 14 persons succumbing to the disease in various hospitals in the last 24 hours. The total death count has jumped to 1135.

Of the new 2019 cases, 1168 patients are from quarantine, while 851 are local contact cases. Four districts recorded over 100 cases with Khordha witnessing the maximum of 283 positive cases followed by Cuttack (150), Angul (129) and Mayurbhanj (111).

The Health department said while four deaths were reported from Khordha (Bhubaneswar), two deaths each was recorded in Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur district and one death each in Mayurbhanj, Puri, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Bolangir and Sambalpur.

  5. A 45-year old male of Cuttack.
  6. A 56-year old male of Cuttack who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  7. A 49-year old male of Mayurbhanj who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  8. A 63-year old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  9. A 44-year old female of Dhenkanal district who was also suffering from Hypothyroid & Hypertension.
  10. A 63-year old male of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  11. A 46-year old female of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  12. A 65-year old male of Kandhamal district who was also suffering from CAD Arterial Fibrillation.
  13. A 65-year old male of Bolangir district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  14. A 65-year old male of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.

Official reports reveal 42258 samples were tested on Saturday for Covid taking the number of samples tested cumulatively across the state to 4043323.
