Bhubaneswar: A complaint has been filed against Odisha School and Mass Education minister Samir Ranjan Dash and Tourism minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi at Kharvel Nagar Police station on Saturday for violating COVID19 guidelines.
According to sources, convenor of Jagannath Sena, Priyadarshan Patnaik lodged the complaint against the two ministers for attending the funeral of MLA Pradeep Maharathy at Puri Swargadwar on Sunday despite being COVID19 positive.
“The minister (Dash) said he had tested positive for the virus 20-22 days ago. But, the report that we have with us says Dash was positive till September 27 and was barred to attend the monsoon session of the Odisha Assembly,” Patnaik said.
“As Puri Police did not accept the FIR against Panigrahi, we have approached Kharabela Nagar Police and hope action will be taken against the ministers,” Patnaik added.
Earlier on October 5, the local outfit had filed an FIR against Dash and Satyabadi MLA Umakanta Samantaray at Puri Sea Beach Police Station for similarly flouting COVID-19 norms.
