Bhubaneswar: For Indians, Covid-19 will be remembered for so many aspects like humanitarian crisis, incomparable economic losses but even in this chaos, the charitable act of a cine actor is earning the loudest cheer than anything else across the nation.

After sending numerous migrant workers to their respective home States, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood who has been hitting the headlines almost every day for his relentless gestures of charity has now come to the rescue of around 170 girls of Odisha stuck in Kerala amid the Coronavirus lockdown.

The ‘Simmba’ actor recently came across some distress calls from the girls and immediately jumped in to help them. A special aircraft was arranged to facilitate the safe return of the girls who were stuck in Ernakulam.

The girls, most of them hailing from Kendrapara area of the State, were engaged as stitching and embroidery labourers at a local textile factory in Kerala. Onboard also were 10 migrant labourers who were working in a plywood factory.

It is pertinent to mention that national vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jay Panda, had earlier sought the intervention of Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan in connection with the alleged workplace harassment and brutality by company authorities on migrant women workers from Odisha in Kerala.

Informing that over a 1000 women migrant workers from Odisha who are stranded in Kerala are being targeted and harassed, Panda had urged the Kerala CM to provide immediate relief to them by ensuring their safety and assisting them in safe repatriation back to Odisha.

After news of the homecoming of the Odia girls spread, Jay Panda took to twitter to express gratitude to Sonu Sood for the selfless act.

“What a relief! Appreciate the promptness of Sonu Sood Ji in bringing them back. Odisha will always remember your generosity. Jay Panda is glad the girls are back home safely, that too after 2 years of venturing out in search of livelihood & better life,” the senior BJP leader wrote in the twitter.

Kudos to your noble efforts. It's incredible to see how you are helping the needy reach their homes safely. More strength to you," Patnaik tweeted.

Later, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik also expressed his gratitude towards the Bollywood actor. He thanked Sonu Sood for helping the stranded Odia girls.
