CBI to investigate role of states in Coalgate

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: With the CAG report stating Rs 10,67000 crore loss to the national exchequer due to the alleged irregularities in the distribution of coal blocks in states involviong Odisha, West Bengal, Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to investigate role of these four states in the coal block allocation row.      

The investigating agency is understood to have sought information from the Coal and Power Ministry on the allotment of coal mines to 220 companies from 2005 to 2008. The agency will also probe signing of the MoU`s with private partners.
