Jharsuguda: At a time when a slew of measures have been taken to create awareness on Coronavirus, a case has been registered against the daughter of Odisha Health Minister Naba Das for allegedly violating COVID-19 guidelines.

The case has been registered against Deepali Das and some other people at Jharsuguda Town Police Station after a complaint by a municipality official, informed Jharsuguda SP Rahul PR.

As per reports, the minister's daughter allegedly violated social distancing norms during a felicitation ceremony of Covid-19 warriors at District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) office on June 22.

Responding to the allegations, Deepali clarified that she never violated Covid guidelines. "A meeting was organised in presence of members from various voluntary organisations to felicitate the contribution and sacrifice made by our Corona warriors, but some frustrated people have raised questions on flouting of Covid guidelines during the event. I want to make it clear that I always respect rules and will continue to continue my fight against Coronavirus and work for the betterment of the people of Jharsuguda," she said.

A few months back, Deepali Das was embroiled in a controversy after a video purportedly showing her along with Odia actresses Prakruti Mishra, Elina Samantray and Lovina Nayak entering the prohibited areas of Hirakud reservoir in Sambalpur went viral on social media.
