Bhubaneswar: Of late, actors who more often than not have been considered role models, are in for criticism not for their acting skills, but getting caught on the wrong foot for breaking rules.

Wednesday night, Ollywood superstar Tanmay Mohanty (Babushaan) was slapped a penalty through e-challan for flouting traffic norms. Mohanty was reportedly riding a motorcycle near Kalinga Nagar area of the capital city without wearing a helmet, a video of which has been shot by a commuter and made viral on social media platforms.

Taking suo motu cognisance of the incident, the Commissionerate Police issued a challan of Rs 1000 against Babushaan under the amended Motor Vehicles Act and later took to Twitter to mention, "We adore our actors. But, when Tanmay, better known as Babushan, was found to be riding a bike without a helmet, a challan was issued. That’s our duty. Do follow traffic safety norms always."

Meanwhile, responding to reports of being penalised for violating traffic norms, Babushaan said, "I was riding outside our compound gate and did not move near any traffic junction or NH. I will be more careful in future."

Actors Always Not Role Models

Recently, another controversy had erupted after a video reportedly shot in the prohibited areas of Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur showing three popular actresses of Ollywood and daughter of a State Health minister went viral on social media. The video purportedly showed actors Prakruti Mishra, Elina Samantray and Lovina Nayak having fun in the restricted zone of the reservoir with Odisha health minister Naba Kishore Das’ daughter Deepali. Asked, the actors later acknowledged that shooting video in the restricted zone was a mistake.
