Bhubaneswar: Opposition BJP and Congress staged walkout in the first day of Budget session of Odisha Assembly opposing Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal's address.

Soon after the House assembled for the day, Congress MLAs created ruckus by raising the border controversy with Andhra Pradesh over Kotia villages.

Later, they staged walkout while the Governor appreciated the State government on different fronts.

Similarly, the BJP MLAs also walked out of the House raising irregularities in paddy procurement in different mandis across the State, deteriorating law and order Situation and Kotia dispute.

"Andhra Pradesh occupied the land of Odisha. It has also conducted panchayat polls in Odisha villages. The Odisha government is acting as mute spectator. These issues need to be mentioned in the Governor's address", Leader of Congress legislature party Narasingh Mishra said.

Moreover, the condition of farmers is worst as there are gross irregularities in the procurement of paddy. Thousands sacks of paddy are piled up at different mandis across the State. But the State doesn't procure the food grain, Mishra alleged.

The Governor, while appreciating State government's role in the fight against Covid-19 disease, said that government's timely action like advance pension, distribution of food materials, cooked food distribution had helped compensate further loss to life and livelihood during the pandemic induced lockdown.

Lal pointed out that State government had initiated several measures to boost morale and self confidence of the Covid warriors.

The government is committed for the social security of physically challenged and homeless people. "My government is committed for a 'Sustha Odisha, Sukhi Odisha'," he said.
