Youth held for rape bid on minor girl in Cuttack

Cuttack: A youth was arrested by police today for allegedly attempting to rape a school student in Dahaliabag area under Sadar police limits of Cuttack district.

As per a complaint lodged at the Sadar police station, a local youth lured the school girl on the pretext of offering a chocolate and later attempted to rape her. Moreover, the accused allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

Her mother alleged, "The youth dragged my daughter to an isolated place, tore her clothes and misbehaved with her. He later gave her Rs 300, three notebooks, a pen and a chocolate asking her not to disclose anything to anyone. But she went to school and narrated everything before the teachers. I want the youth to be severely punished."

Acting on the complaint, police arrested the youth and are interrogating him. The cops have also recorded the statement of the girl after medical examination, informed sources.

However, no comments on the matter could be obtained from the police officials.
