Cuttack: Already in the back foot in a three-match T20 international series, India are hopeful to return to the winning streak in the Barabati clash with South Africa on Tuesday.
Mentioning about the opening match at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh which India lost the game by seven wickets, India vice-captain Rohit Sharma said, “Yes, it was an unfortunate loss, but I’m sure we'll come back strong.”
Addressing the media on pre-match press meet here, Sharma said, “Of course it was an important knock (about his century) but see we lost the game. So nothing really matters to me...I am really disappointed with that ...No matter how much runs you score but if you lose the game, your efforts are not counted much.”
Asked about how he sees the three formats in the game, Sharma said his mindset remains same and it is only to score runs.
“To be honest the same effort I put in all the formats...whether it’s T20, ODI or a Test match...it’s always the same mindset about going and scoring runs.
That has always been an effort to put the right foot forward and get the best out of whatever I can. I can't differentiate between test cricket and the limited over match because my mindset is always same and it will remain the same which is to go and score and make my team win,” Sharma continued.
About the Dharamsala match, he said, “The captain and management felt that this was the best team to go forward and play the game ...Conditions will differ every time we go, every time we travel...In Dharamsala we thought there will be seam movement but due to dew it was taken away...Our spinners are experienced enough and they know in which line and length they need to bowl.... Not to take credit from the seamers, they bowled pretty well but with the dew setting in, it was difficult for the bowlers to have the proper grip of the ball.”
