Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of Odia Army officer Captain Subhendu Mishra, who died in the tragic UP train mishap on Sunday morning, arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in the city here this evening.

A pall of gloom descended in the house of Mishra after the distraught family members got information about the tragic incident.

Talking to OTV in a chocked voice, Suvendu’s father Himanshu Kumar Mishra said “After coming to know about the tragic train accident, I and my wife were on a flight to New Delhi when my younger brother called me up at about 9 PM saying that my son is no more. My son had told me that he would undergo training at the LoC bordering Pakistan. He said he want to grab this opportunity to discharge his duty on the border for the sake of his country. His only ambition is life was to perform the toughest job. But the God did not give him a chance”.

“The aim of my son could not be fulfilled. The Colonel of my son had rung me up this morning and said Auntie, please don’t worry. Your son has done a lot for his department,” said Suvendu’s mother with tears rolling down her cheeks.

A 2010 batch student of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) at Dehradun, Suvendu was the Captain of 23 Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army and was on the way to join his new posting on LoC on Indo-Pak border when lost his life in the tragic train mishap.

Para (Special Forces) is a special forces unit of the Indian Army's Parachute Regiment with missions like special operations, direct action, hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defence, counter-proliferation, counter-insurgency, seek and destroy and personnel recovery. The unit's heritage stems from Second World War with the creation 50th Parachute Brigade in October 1941.
