Bhubaneswar: The death toll in the major fire mishap that occurred at the Sum Hospital here on last evening reached 20 with the death of another person at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar today.
The deceased identified as Harihar Mallha, who died in ventilator at the AIIMS hospital, was undergoing treatment at the Sum Hospital in a critical condition. The deceased was among the two critical patients of the total 30 persons undergoing treatment at the premier hospital.
Notably, total 45 patients were admitted to the AIIMS last evening while 15 of them have already been discharged. Besides, 36 patients were undergoing treatment at the AMRI hospital, 14 at the KIMS, eight at the Nilachal hospital, six at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, five at the Kalinga Hospital, six at the Apollo Hospital and seven at the Vivekananda Hospital.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited the AIIMS and AMRI Hospitals to see the treatment of the patients. Health Department Secretary Arti Ahuja also visited the hospital early morning today to take stock of the situation.
