Puri: The Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Monday restored the titles of around 11.143 acres of Bebandobast (unsettled land) land belonging to Swargadwar.
The court of Tehsildar here in a landmark verdict said the property will be recorded in the official record of SJTA.
Besides, the State government along with 1.893 acres of unsettled land, has reclaimed 2.488 acres of land of the crematorium with earmarked roads.
The court said, it has come across evidence that 10.256 acres of land has been sold using forged documents and 240 persons will be summoned in this regard.
Sources said, in 1990, the temple administration had filed a case under Odisha Estate Abolition Act in the court of Tehsildar here to record 30 acres of Swargadwar land, which were wrongly recorded in favour of some individuals. The case read that the land belonged to temple since 1899 and without the knowledge of temple management committee, they were recorded in favour of some individuals.
