Bhubaneswar: Even though February has just begun, the joyous spring seems to be far behind as residents of many towns in Odisha are already feeling the heat due to a sudden surge in day temperature.
The readings from the regional meteorological department suggested that while the maximum temperature in the state at this time of the year should be somewhere between 28 to 30 degrees Celsius, mercury has shot beyond 33 degrees Celsius in many places.
While Bhubaneswar recorded 33.3 degrees Celsius on Friday, temperature crossed 34 degrees Celsius mark in Titlagarh. With the met department hinting that the sudden rise in temperature is just the beginning, locals are apprehensive about the impending heat conditions.
Sources informed that the direction of wind has suddenly changed from North-west to South-west leading to the sharp increase in temperature.
The Regional Meteorological Centre Director Sarat Sahu said "Change in wind patterns and foggy weather will be experienced. This apart, the trend of rise in temperature during the daytime will continue."
