Brahmagiri: More than 50 people were stuck in Chilika after a ferry boat carrying them got trapped in mud on its way to Janhikuda from Satapada this afternoon. However, another boat has reached to rescue those trapped.
The ferry boat was trapped in mud around one-and-half kilometre off the coast.
Some two wheelers and a tractor were also being transported in the boat which left the shore at around 3.15 pm for seven km journey from Satapada to Janhikuda.
Ferry boat is the only mode of transportation for around 20 gram panchayats inside the Chilika Lake which come under Berhampur constituency.
