Bhubaneswar: Amid reports regarding death of at least 11 residents of tribal dominated Banbheri and nearby villages under Kalyansinghpur block of Rayagada district allegedly due to diarrhoea in the last 15 days, the district administration has set up four temporary health camps to contain the situation.
In past few weeks around 100 diarrhoea patients have been treated at Kalyansinghpur hospital, sources said.
Asked about the reason behind the spurt in such cases, the official stated that it was due to the stale food, particularly chicken, that the tribals are consuming.
The district administration officials and health workers visited Kalyansinghpur and Parsali on Sunday to take stock of the situation.
“The 24x7 health camps covering 34 villages will run for next 15 days. We are closely monitoring the situation and if needed it will be extended. At the camps, free cooked food and hot drinking water is being given to the patients,” Rayagada sub-collector Muralidhar Swain said.
