Radiology equipment in SCB medical sealed

Cuttack: A team of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board sealed nearly 7 radiology equipment from two departments of SCB Medical College and Hospital today.

According to reports, three equipment of the Dental College have been sealed while the authorities have been warned for using two other high-end machines without necessary approvals.

Similarly, 5 machines at the radio-diagnosis centre have been sealed and warning has been issued to Cath lab of Cardiology department to comply with existing norms within a month, said Scientific Officer of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, Arati Kulkarni.

Another team member, Rajiv Lochan informed that the verification is being done to ensure that hospitals and other diagnostic centres adhere to basic guidelines as radiation from such equipments have adverse impact on patient, operator as well as environment.

"We usually verify various documents so as to ensure that the machines do not have any defect and will not have any ill-effects," said Shah
