Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Police on Wednesday seized two trucks carrying 540.75 kg cannabis in New Delhi and arrested two persons allegedly involved in inter-state narcotics trade.

Those arrested have been identified as Akbar Khan of Uttar Pradesh and Mantu Singh of Bihar.

The cannabis-carrying trucks were travelling from Berhampur in Odisha and were going to deliver the consignment to handlers in the national capital, said police.

"They also supplied liquor to different parts of the country. They used to procure the narcotics from Maoist-affected states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh," a police official said.

The police recovered a total of 12 white plastic bags containing 116 small packets of the contraband from the trucks.

Meanwhile, accused Akbar Khan has confessed that he has been involved in this trade since long and has links with various handlers, the officer added.
