Cuttack: The Sadar Police station today recorded the statements of an actress of Indrabhuban Opera, who has levelled casting couch allegation against manager of the opera party Manoj Nayak, under Sec 161 of the CrPC here.
Earlier in the day, tension ran high on premises the Sadar police station as members of the opera party gheraoed the police station after Manoj Nayak was detained following a complaint was filed against him by a woman member of the group.
Rashmiprabha Sahu, one actress of the theatre group, said, “Our manager is not such type of person. For the past six years I have been working with him, but he has not misbehaved with me once.”
Expressing similar views Daitari Panda, president, the theatre artistes’ association said, “The truthfulness of the charges should be probed and the theatres should be blamed in anyway. We want justice and let the jatra industry not to die.”
Earlier yesterday, a woman member of the opera party levelled casting couch charges against Nayak alleging that the latter forced her to keep physical relationship with him.
“He (Nayak) said he will give me a character in an opera if I allow him to keep physical relationship with him,” she alleged.
