Bhadrak: A one-year-old boy sold by his parents for Rs 45,000 was rescued by Bhadrak Town Police and Childline officials on Tuesday and handed over to Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Bhadrak.

As per reports, a family in Kuansh village under Bhadrak Town police limits had sold their son to a driver of the same village for Rs 45,000 on Monday.

Getting to know about it, Childline officials raided the house of the driver and rescued the child with help of police.
Meanwhile, the child and his mother are under the custody of CWC, Bhadrak. Further probe of the incident is also conducted by police.

It may be mentioned that the parents of the child, Pandya Mukhi and Barsha Mukhi, had been arrested on Monday for selling their son.

Pandya Mukhi, the father of the child, revealed that unable to feed their two sons and a daughter, they sold the child and brought a mobile, saree and silver anklet.
