Naveen felicitates para athlete Jayanti Behera

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today felicitated Odia girl Jayanti Behera for winning gold at the World Junior Para Athletic Championship held in Switzerland.

The CM also announced a cash reward of Rs 12 lakh for Jayanti for her outstanding achievement at the international level event. Speaking at the State Secretariat, on Thursday, Patnaik said that Jayanti would be awarded on the occasion of the National Sports Day on August 29.

Jayanti bagged gold in the 400 mts race and silver in 200 mts sprint event of the recently concluded junior world championship.

Earlier in May this year, Jayanti had won gold in 400 meters race at the China Open Para Athletics Grand Prix (senior) championship by clocking a time of 1.02 minutes.
