Minor tied to pole, beaten mercilessly over theft in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A minor boy was allegedly beaten black and blue by the villagers in Jiridimali under Kamakhyanagar police limits after he was caught stealing from a shop here on Monday.

As per the sources, the villagers complained of theft from a shop near Jiridimali Chhak on Saturday night. Later, they somehow managed to nab the minor boy after conducting a search.

Upon getting hold of the minor, the villagers tied him to an electric pole and thrashed him up mercilessly beating him with sticks. The irate villagers continued their assault until police arrived at the spot and rescued the boy.

The local police could not be contacted in the matter.
