Bhubaneswar: From pictures, paintings and sculptors related to the culture and history of the state to mouth-watering delicacies, the visitors are loving to spend their evenings at Khandagiri-Udaygiri Mahotsav at Tourist Interpretation Centre, Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar. Not just the residents of the city but the tourists coming to Khandagiri and Udaygiri are getting to see a slice of the art and culture of the state close to the hills.
“This is an exhibition of paintings by 15 eminent artists of the state. Many visitors are loving our work and it has been a successful exhibition so far. The artists are very well known, so we are not selling the creations here,” informed secretary of Lalit Kala Academy Manas Ranjan Jena.
Sculptor Himanshu Sekhar Ojha said, “We are displaying stone carving here at this demo zone. Visitors are coming in good numbers and showing interest to buy and know more about this art.”
Not only these, the food court and craft zone have turned out to be most visited place for the visitors. Mouth-watering delicacies starting from tribal cuisine to some popular street foods of various parts of the state are on display while local handloom outfits are also much sought after.
“This is the first time we are attending an event here. Its really amazing as we are getting a chance to know more about Odisha’s culture and heritage as well as tasting some lovely delicacies,” expressed tourist Smita Kujur.
Cultural shows with dance troupes from various parts of the state performing classical and traditional dance forms of Odisha are enthralling the audience every evening in this four-day festival. The Khandagiri-Udaygiri Mahotsav being organised by the Tourism Department in association with Department of Culture, BDA and BMC commenced on January 25 and will conclude tomorrow.
