Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of Odia Army officer Captain Subhendu Mishra, who died in the Kanpur train mishap on Sunday morning, were consigned to flames at the Satya Nagar crematorium here today.

The last rites of Mishra were performed with full State honour at the cremation ground. The body of Mishra, a native of Binayakpur village in Nayagarh district, had arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here on Monday evening.

A 2010 batch student of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) at Dehradun, Suvendu was the Captain of 23 Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army and was on the way to join his new posting on LoC on Indo-Pak border when lost his life in the tragic train mishap.

Para (Special Forces) is a special forces unit of the Indian Army’s Parachute Regiment with missions like special operations, direct action, hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defence, counter-proliferation, counter-insurgency, seek and destroy and personnel recovery.
