Jharsuguda: Two days after four elephants were killed by a speeding train at the railway track crossing near Bagdihi range in Jharsuguda district, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) today suspended four forest personnel for negligence in duty.
DFO Sushant Kumar has reportedly suspended Forester Basanta Pradhan and forest guards Biswanath Pradhan, Sunil Bhoi and Rohit Majhi.
The Forest department shot a letter to the Jharsuguda Station Manager and Chakradharpur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) demanding action against the driver of the train and other officials responsible for the mishap.
Refuting the allegations, the railway control room has claimed that it had not received any information regarding the movement of the pachyderms on the railway tracks.
As per sources, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest ( Wild Life) Sandeep Tripathi had earlier initiated a probe after reaching the accident spot.

On Monday, the herd comprising of one tusker, two female elephants and a calf were crossing over the tracks in the wee hours near Teladihi level crossing when they were hit by a speeding train leading to death of four pachyderms on the spot.
