Bhubaneswar: The House Committee on Railways of the State Assembly is scheduled to meet under the chairmanship of Speaker Niranjan Pujari at 5 pm on Thursday.
The Committee is likely to discuss the date for the proposed meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu to present a memorandum on shifting of the proposed railway wagon repair factory from Narla in Kalahandi district to Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Besides, the meeting will also discuss expansion and development of railway lines in the State.
During the ongoing budget session of the Assembly, members of all political parties had voiced concern over the Railways’ decision to shift the wagon factory at Narla to Vishakhapatnam. They had also arrived at a consensus to bring the issue to the notice of the Railway minister by submitting a memorandum on the same.
