Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Over two lakh students looking forward to appear the JEE Advanced-2018 exam across the country will have to bear the brunt of the newly introduced GST.  Add to it the decision of the IIT-Kanpur, the exam conducting authority of JEE Advanced, to increase the registration fee for the exam.

The JEE Advanced-2018 fee will be specified by the Centre at the time of registration, informed IIT-Kanpur.

The JEE Advanced-2018 exam would be held on May 20. Top 2.24 lakh students, who would clear JEE Mains-2018 (conducted by CBSE) on April 8, will be eligible for JEE Advanced.

While female candidates (all categories), SCs, STs and differently-abled persons will have to pay Rs 1300 plus GST as against the existing fee of Rs 1200, general candidates will have to shell out Rs 2600 plus GST compared to the existing fee of Rs 2400, informed Prof Shalabh, organising chairman of the exam.

Similarly, foreign nationals (candidates from SAARC countries) will be required to pay a fee of $160 plus GST while candidates from non-SAARC countries will pay $300 plus GST, reported The Economic Times.
