Jajpur: The overall flood situation continues to be grim after the flood waters of Brahmani and Kharasrota river entered several villages in Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Kendrapara districts.
There seems to be no respite as hundreds of people in nearly seven blocks in Jajpur district are still marooned. 10 panchayats have been completely cut-off from rest of the world while 40 villages in the district are inundated.
Nearly, 20,000 to 22,000 people in Jajpur district have been affected by the floods while 1,600 people have been shifted to safer places, district administration officials said.

Bari block of Jajpur has been worst affected while the administration has directed government officials to set up free-kitchens to provide cooked food to the flood victims.
ODRAF teams have already been deployed in Bari and Binjharpur blocks to tackle any untoward situation. Due to an embankment breach in Brahmani river Bankasahi area under Kimphiripala Panchayat of the district nearly four Panchayats are affected by the flood water.
“It is now almost two days that that life has been thrown out of gear in our village. All the things in the house have been damaged,” said a flood victim.
Similar is the condition of people in Kendrapara district where 10 panchayats in Pattamundai block have been cut-off while 3 feet flood water is flowing on the Cuttack-Chandbali road.
