Bhubaneswar: Taking note of delay in the first phase offline (manual) and online evaluation of annual Plus Two answer scripts due to absence of teachers, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has decided to conduct online evaluation of Science and Commerce papers in two shifts and the second phase offline valuation from April 18.
Talking to OTV on Saturday, CHSE chairman Prof Basudev Chhatoi said the supervisors of all e-evaluation zones have been asked to conduct e-evaluation of Science and Commerce answer scripts in two shifts—the first shift from 8 AM to 12 noon and the second shift from 12.30 PM to 5.30 PM.
He also said keeping in view the inordinate delay in the manual valuation due to absence of large number of teachers, it has been decided that the first phase of manual valuation shall continue till all the answer scripts are valued and in no case the examiners are to be relieved before completion of the valuation.
“But as decided by the Council, the second phase of manual valuation and e-evaluation would begin from April 18,” Chhatoi informed.
He further said to expedite the manual valuation the valuation zones may provide extra rooms to conduct both phases of valuation simultaneously.
“The Controller of Examinations, CHSE has written a letter in this regard to the supervisors of all valuation zones today,” he added.
He, however, said there will be delay in the announcement of results if the required number of teachers do not join their duty in the second phase evaluation like they did in the first phase evaluation.
Meanwhile, as per the directive of the Controller of Examinations, CHSE, the concerned supervisors of the valuation zones have sent their reports mentioning the number of teachers who have remained absent from their valuation duty.
Talking to media persons, principal of Maharishi College of Natural Law, Basant Sahu said of the 303 teachers assigned by the Council to join the valuation, 100 teachers have not joined their duty till date.
On the other hand, some teachers have alleged lack of adequate infrastructure in their valuation centres.
“Here, there is frequent power disruption. Besides, no arrangement has been made to either provide air-conditioner or air-cooler. Though the Council has made this zone an e-evaluation centre, the computers are getting hanged But due to frequent power failure,” said Annapurna Mishra, who has joined as an examiner in the e-evaluation zone at Dharanidhar College in Keonjhar.
Rabi Satpathy, a teacher appointed as examiner at Bikram Dev College at Jeypore, said due to absence of some examiners in the first phase valuation, the Council has asked the examiners on duty to join the second phase evaluation which will begin from April 21.
