Bhubaneswar/Sambalpur: Miffed over government's failure to fulfill their nine-point charter of demands, members of the Junior Doctor Association (JDA) of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Science and Research (VIMSAR), Burla have resumed their strike from today.
Informing this to the media, JDA president Shankar Ramchandani said that the State government had failed to keep its promise.
“In January the Odisha government had assured us that by March 31, all our demands would be addressed. But so far, it has been able to solve only one issue. We have lost our faith on the government and have decided to resume our strike from Friday,” Ramchandani stated.
Earlier, the medicos' body had resorted to agitation from January 12 to 21. They suspended their agitation following Health and Family Welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak’s assurance to look into the matter.
A fortnight ago, the medicos wore black badges during duty hours to mark their protest against the delay in fulfillment of their demands.
Their demands include installation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine, delegation of financial and administrative powers to VIMSAR authorities, shifting of female medicine ward to a new building, strengthening of security on the premises of VIMSAR and round-the-clock water and electricity supply to operation theatre and labour room.
