Mayurbhanj: A Public Works Department (PWD) notice board of West Bengal placed near Odisha's Tukapalasia village under Morada block of Mayurbhanj district has once again brought up a border dispute between Odisha and Bengal.
According to information, a PWD notice board of the neighbouring state has been allegedly found placed inside Odisha state border thus blatantly violating the norms.
The incident has led to sharp protests from the locals residents. They alleged that the neighbour West Bengal is claiming the village under its territorial limit.
Pointing towards the original border and the spot where the Bengal government had initially placed the notice board, local resident Rajaram Mohanto says, "Initially we spotted the notice board placed 10 m inside Odisha border then they shifted the post 25 m inside and now they have placed the notice near our village."
Meanwhile, the administration has assured that the issue is being looked into with seriousness. "I have ordered the RI to initiate a probe into the issue. Since it is a serious matter pertaining to inter-state border dispute, once the report comes in I will inform the matter to the district administration so that further necessary steps can be taken," Morada Tehsildar Sambit Sangramjeet Sahu said.
