Puri: It has been a dream come true for sculptor Rajendra Mishra as he has been successful in carving out a miniature version of Puri Srimandir.
The 12th century architectural marvel is every artisans dream and Mishra has been able to chisel out a replica of the Puri Jagannath temple on redstone.
Mishra has come up with the miniature version of Puri Srimandir measuring two feet in length, two feet in width and a foot in height.
The 42-year-old architect and sculptor from Kundheibenta Sahi in Puri has come up with miniature version of the 12th century shrine which has now won accolades from many.
Be it the Meghanand wall, Jagamohan, Natamandap, Mahalaxmi temple or other small temples of deities, the miniature version of Mishra's sculpture has all the artistic works that the Srimandir has.
“I had a dream and I have tried to come up with miniature version. We had worked for a year to carve out the structure from stone,” Mishra said.
Mishra further said as taking pictures inside the Puri Srimandir is prohibited, they had to visit the temple and make sketches along with two other artisans almost on a daily basis.
"We used to visit and then work on our project. We have tried to give our best," said Mishra's assistant, Alok Chandra Behera.
