Nabarangpur: In yet another instance of inhuman practice based on superstition, a 27-day-old baby girl of Kangra village under Tentulikhunti block was branded with hot iron to cure her stomach ailments.
The victim has been identified as the daughter of Santoshi Bag and Arun Bag.
According to sources, the matter came to the fore after the family members of the child admitted the baby at the District Headquarters Hospital on Thursday in a critical condition.

Notably, the practice of iron branding to cure ailments is rampant in remote areas of the district despite the fact that many of these cases have ended up in death of the child.
