Bhubaneswar: As many as 36, 299 candidates are appearing the Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-M) 2018 in pen and paper mode (offline) being conducted in various centres across Odisha on Sunday.
The paper-I began from 9 am and continued till 12 pm and the second paper examination will start at 2 pm.
Around 44,488 candidates from Odisha had registered for the 2018 JEE. Out of which, 36, 299 appeared the exam in offline mode today while 7,989 will appear the exam in online mode on April 15 and 16, sources informed.
The students were directed by the concerned authorities to reach their respective centres two and a half hours prior to the start of the examinations for both sessions, reports said.
The candidates have been asked to carry admit cards compulsorily to the examination hall.
The examinees were strictly barred from using any watches or any other kind of electronic gadgets, including calculator, metal or jewelry inside the examination hall.
However, those suffering from diabetes can carry eatables like fruits and transparent water bottle inside the hall.
The results for the first sitting examination will be announced on April 30 and the results for second sitting will get published on May 31.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting JEE Mains, an all-India level engineering entrance for admission into Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and various other engineering institutes across the country.
