Bhubaneswar: A special court in Bhubaneswar awarded 10 years imprisonment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, to accused Gajendra Buxi for raping a minor girl in 2016.
Buxi had raped the minor girl in the Chandaka area in Bhubaneswar and was subsequently arrested by police in 2016.
In another incident, special POCSO Court in Nabrangpur awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to the accused in connection with a minor girl rape case in 2015.
"The court after considering the evidences and based on the statements of 16 witnesses awarded 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 to the accused," said government counsel, Sachitrananda Behera.
Earlier, a court in Balasore in January this year had sentenced a 34-year-old man to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl in 2015.
