Angul: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is observing a 24-hour bandh in Pallahara block of Khamar in Angul on a 2-point charter of demands.

Movement of vehicular traffic was adversely affected as party activists staged a road blockade on NH-149.

BJP has called for the bandh to press for immediate appointment of doctors at Khamar hospital and compensation to farmers who were affected by drought last year.

As per information, the patients are facing numerous problems as there is only one doctor at Khamar hospital against the sanctioned strength of eight.

Local BJP members have been staging mass protest at Khamar bazaar for last six days. But as no step was taken by the administration, the party activists hit the streets today.
