Bhubaneswar: Veteran actor Bijay Mohanty who had returned to Bhubaneswar following some weeks of treatment after a cardiac arrest in Hyderabad, is fine and recovering in his home, several of his acquaintances and others in cine industry said while condemning rumours on his demise late Monday night.

Numerous reports appeared on the internet late Monday night, claiming that the actor died due to his illness. The news was widely circulated on social media by fans mourning the demise of the actor.

However, several Ollywood stars came out with clarification on the steady health condition of the actor and slammed the hoax calling the netizens to be responsible while sharing such sensitive news.

Actor Akhil Pattnaik informed that the veteran actor is in his home and requested people to immediately delete the fake news shared on the social media.

“Bijay Mohanty is a role model for Odisha. He is our pride, so if anyone tries to spread such news, we will not backtrack from taking legal action against his or her name,” said Pattnaik.

After coming across Mohanty’s fake death news, actor Sabyasachi Mishra appealed people not to share such unproven reports.

“A wrong/fake news is spreading about Bijay Mohanty Sir. He is fine and doing good! Kindly don't post such articles and news for the sake of few likes. Everyone who has posted such posts, apologize and delete the posts. Long live Bijay Sir," tweeted Sabyasachi.

Notably, Mohanty was shifted to Bhubaneswar on June 14 from Hyderabad after a 22-hour long journey. The actor was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital city of Telangana since May 27 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
