Bhubaneswar: The crime rate in the state capital continues in an upward trend with incidents of loots, snatchings and smuggling of contrabands becoming a regular affair in the city raising serious questions over the law and order situation.
In yet another incident of loot, two bike-borne miscreants attacked a food delivery boy and snatched his mobile phone on a busy street near Pahala on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as Shubhakant Nath.
According to sources, two bike-borne miscreants chased Nath on Bhubaneswar-Cuttack road while he was returning after delivering food. The assailants snatched his mobile phone and pushed him from the running vehicle before fleeing the spot.
Nath sustained serious head injuries in the attack. He was first rushed to Capital hospital and later shifted to Cuttack SCB for emergency treatment, sources added.
“It is becoming unsafe to stay in Bhubaneswar now. Two miscreants had attacked my brother while he was returning from Palasuni after delivering food,” said Chandrakant Nath, brother of the victim.
Recently on Tuesday, a girl riding a scooter was robbed of her gold chain by motorcycle-borne miscreants near Apollo Hospitals in the capital city. Sources said that the girl fell off her two-wheeler during the snatching and sustained injuries.
