Bhubaneswar: With detection of 87 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, the total virus tally in the capital city rose to 29072, according to the data shared by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Of the fresh cases, 68 are local contacts while the remaining 19 are from quarantine, the civic body said in a tweet.

Bhubaneswar also registered 237 recoveries in the last 24 hours. Total recoveries in the city currently stand at 27,313.

As far as Odisha's Covid figures are concerned, with a single-day spike of 1547 Covid-19 cases, virus tally went up to 2,88,646 on Friday. 891 out of the 1547 patients are from quarantine, while the rest 656 are local contact cases, informed State I&PR department. The death toll in the State has climbed to 1,308 with 11 more fatalities on Thursday.
