Bhubaneswar: In a joint operation, the Quick Action Team (QAT) of Commissionerate Police and the Khandagiri Police seized 60 gram brown sugar worth Rs 6 lakh in the capital city and arrested two persons in that connection on Monday.

Acting on a tip off about trade of narcotic substances the Quick Action Team conducted a raid and seized the drug which was being carried from Khordha to Bhubaneswar for peddling. Apart from the contraband, police have also seized two bikes belonging to the two alleged traffickers.

“We have arrested two persons-one from Khordha and one from Bhubaneswar for illegal trade of the narcotic substances. Further investigation is underway,” stated Bhubaneswar DCP Uma Shankar Das.

Khordha and Bhubaneswar seem to have turned into hubs of narcotic trade, of late. On Sunday the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police Crime Branch had seized 262 gram of brown sugar from Tapanga area in Khordha and arrested two persons in connection with the same.

The arrested accused had been identified as Sk Talim and Sk Asif of Routapada village under Tangi block of Khordha district. A motor cycle and other incriminating materials had also been seized.
