Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alert for Odisha as another Low Pressure area is likely to form over Bay of Bengal around August 9.

As per the IMD statement, a low pressure area is likely to develop over west central & adjoining north Bay of Bengal around August 9, 2020. Under its impact, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Keonjhar in the next 24 hours, informed HR Biswas, Director of Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

Day 1 Forecast (Valid from 0830 hours of August 7 to 0830 hours of August 8)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hours of August 8 to 0830 hours of August 9)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapara, Kalahandi and Boudh.

Thunderstorm with lightning also likely to occur at one or two places over Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Bhadrak.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hours of August 9 to 0830 hours of August 10)

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Boudh, Kandhamal, Sonepur.

Heavy rainfall warning also issued for the districts of Nuapada,Nawarangpur, Sambalpur, Koraput, Ganjam, Nayagarh

Light to moderate rain and thunderstorm also likely to occur in the districts of South Odisha and at many places over the districts of North Odisha

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hours of August 10 to 0830 hours of August 11)

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Boudh and Malkangiri
