Bhubaneswar: Amid the ongoing fight against coronavirus, another ruling-BJD MLA in Odisha tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. With this, the total number of legislators infected by the virus jumped to seven in the State.

Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena today announced that he has tested positive for the virus and is on home quarantine.

Jena took to Twitter and said, "Feeling the COVID-19 symptoms, I got the test done & reported corona virus positive, I am fine & home quarantined. Request that, those who have come in my contact should isolate themselves & get tested."

Among other BJD MLAs, Sudhansu Sekhar Parida (Remuna), Soumya Ranjan Patnaik (Khandapada), Srikant Sahu (Polsara), Prasant Behera (Salipur) and Susant Singh (Bhatli) have earlier tested positive for COVID-19.

Apart from the ruling party legislators, two BJP lawmakers- Sukanta Nayak (Nilgiri) and Suresh Pujari (Bargarh MP)- have also tested positive for the virus.

On the other hand, BJD general secretary Srimayee Mishra and Odisha Small Industries Corporation chairperson Chinmay Kumar Sahoo also tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
