Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday morning took Biban alias Bibekananda Biswal, the prime accused in the sensational 1999 Anjana Mishra gangrape case, to the crime spot to recreate the incident.

A team of CBI and local police officials took Biban to the crime spot in Barang area under Chandaka Police Station limits on the outskirts of the capital city and reconstructed the scene. The entire process took around 45 minutes.

"The CBI should investigate the conspiracy angle and ask who was providing him protection over the past 22 years," said Anjana while speaking to OTV.

The central probe agency had taken Biban on a two-day remand on Thursday and he will be produced before the CBI Special Judge Court today at 5 pm.

During the remand period, the CBI officials interrogated the accused about the people who helped him flee Odisha after committing the crime and how he evaded the arrest for more than two decades.

On March 3, Anjana identified Biban during a test identification (TI) parade conducted by the CBI under Section 9 of the Indian Evidence Act in the supervision of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Srujalin Mohanty at the Jharpada Jail.

Biban was arrested by the Commissionerate Police last month from Maharashtra's Aamby Valley.
