Angul: Severed Head Of Newborn Found On Road, Police Launch Investigation

Angul: Panic gripped in the area after people found the severed head of a new-born baby lying on the road little ahead of the Mishrapada junction on Wednesday morning.

According to sources, the baby’s head was spotted by some passersby and morning walkers. The head was lying near a dustbin. The gender or the identity of the child, whose other body parts are yet to be found, has not yet been established.

A nursing home is located at a distance of 100 metres from the place where the head of the child was found. Though it is still not known how and under what circumstances the severed head landed at the spot, it is, however, assumed that the body had been dumped in the dustbin by someone following the death of the child. It could have been mauled by dogs and other scavengers.

Sources said that police were informed and a search has been launched to find other body parts even as the severed head has been sent for forensic analysis. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
