Berhampur: As a precautionary measure to prevent the second wave of COVID-19 spread, the Ganjam district administration on Monday decided to keep all temples and other religious institutions closed till December 1.

At a high-level meeting held today, senior district officials unanimously decided not to allow the reopening of temples even though the recently released Unlock 6.0 guidelines had given the powers to local magistrates/ Municipal Commissioners to take a call on the reopening of places of worships in their respective jurisdictions.

Apart from temples, the Ganjam district administration has also clamped restrictions on feasts and playing of music at various picnic spots.

As per the latest guidelines issued by the Ganjam district administration, government officials have been asked to remain present in office for 50 per cent of their time while the remaining 50 per cent should be spent on the field.

‘Mo Gaon Re Tehsil’ programme will be conducted in all villages for the next three months, the administration has decided.
