Bhubaneswar: Four Maoists have been killed in an encounter with police at Bhandarangi Sarki forest on Kalahandi-Kandhamal border on Wednesday, informed officials.

While some Red Rebels managed to give the security personnel a slip, an SOG personnel has reportedly sustained injuries in the operation.

Kalahandi SP B Gangadhar informed that on the basis of an intelligence input, two composite teams of SOG and DVF launched an operation along Kalahandi-Kandhamal border.

“An exchange of fire took place Wednesday at around 11.00 AM. In this operation, four Maoists were killed and unfortunately, one SOG Jawan got injured,” Gangadhar stated.

The operation was still on at the time the article was published.

Till the last report came in, more teams of SOG, DVF and CRPF were sent to the area for combing and search operations.
