Weather Update: IMD Predicts Thunderstorm, Heavy Rain For Odisha Next Week

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.

As per the latest IMD bulletin, the heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Nuapada districts.

Thunderstorm with lightning warning has also been issued for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Kalahandi.

“The trough at mean sea level from East Uttar Pradesh to northwest Bay of Bengal now runs from north-west Uttar Pradesh to northwest Bay of Bengal across East Uttar Pradesh, south Jharkhand and north Odisha,” said IMD.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next five days:

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 27.06.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 28.06.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.06.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 29.06.2021)

Moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati and Kandhamal.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.06.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 30.06.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Odisha.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.06.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 01.07.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurdha, Cuttack, Puri, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Day 5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.07.2021upto 0830 hrs IST of 02.07.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Khurdha and Puri.
