Odisha heatwave: Temperature to intensify further, IMD issues yellow warning for 6 districts

Odisha is currently experiencing an unprecedented rise in heat, with temperatures climbing throughout the state, prompting the state meteorological department to issue urgent warnings amid the ongoing heat wave conditions.

As per reports, the prevailing severe heat could further intensify over the coming two days. Meanwhile, the weather department issued a yellow warning, advising caution regarding the heat in six districts- Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Subarnapur, Boudh, Balangir, and Kalahandi.

As the heatwave is expected to persist, the same alert has been extended for these areas for tomorrow, 30th March.

Jharsuguda the Hottest:

Yesterday (March 28) marked a particularly hot day for Jharsuguda as it registered a sweltering 43 degrees Celsius, the highest in the state. In Bhubaneswar, the state capital, the temperature surpassed 40 degrees Celsius for the first time this year. Across the state, temperatures in 18 different towns exceeded 40 degrees Celsius.

Precautionary Measures For People:

Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated and avoiding direct exposure to the sun during peak hours. Measures are being suggested to mitigate risks, especially for vulnerable populations.

The government has advised people to keep themselves hydrated, avoid exposure to the sun during peak hours, and remain indoors where possible.
