Relief on cards from hot and humid conditions as IMD predicts heavy rainfall in some Odisha districts

Enhanced rainfall activities in Odisha from June 17

The conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal during the next 4 to 5 days, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.

As per IMD, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in Bargarh, Sundagarh, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Keonjhar in the next 24 hours. The coastal districts will also experience hot and humid conditions. However, there is a possibility of increase in the rainfall activities from June 17, informed IMD’s Bhubaneswar centre director Manorama Mohanty.
