Rainfall likely in Odisha for next five to seven days: IMD

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Odisha is set to experience light to moderate rainfall over the next five to seven days due to a cyclonic circulation and active Monsoon trough, as per IMD Bhubaneswar. Heavy rainfall may occur in one or two locations within 48 hours. A yellow warning has been issued for nine districts.

Rainfall in Bhubaneswar

Odisha is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall for the next five to seven days, informed the Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

The cyclonic circulation lying over West Jharkhand and neighbourhood areas and active Monsoon trough line will cause the rainfall.

According to IMD’s Bhubaneswar regional centre director Manorama Mohanty, though the rainfall is expected to continue for the next five to seven days, its intensity is likely to be comparatively less.

“Rainfall is likely to continue for the next five to seven days. However, the intensity of rainfall may decrease. Most places may witness light to moderate rainfall. In the coming 48 hours, heavy rainfall may be experienced at one or two places,” said Mohanty.

While the intensity of rainfall is likely to decrease from August 10, it is predicted that the intensity will again pick up from August 13.
